Web 2.0 tools for the English classroom
workshop

The aim of the Web 2.0 tools for the English classroom workshop is to introduce primary and secondary school English language teachers to those Web 2.0 applications that have been proven to work in language teaching.  Participants will have the opportunity to get to know the tools, to integrate them in their lesson planning, to use them in their English classes, and to share their experiences with colleagues. The course requires basic level internet skills. It is free, practical, and designed for schools equipped with regular computer facilities.

The workshop consists of three stages. Before going to the workshop, participants complete some readings, watch short videos and do tasks related to them as preparation for the workshop. The two hour workshop is usually organised in GatewayUk Access Points. It addresses issues raised by the participants in connection with the Web 2.0 tools and provides hands-on practice opportunities with the tools. After the workshop, the participants will use in-class the materials they developed at the workshop and will share their experiences with other course participants. The participants will be expected to introduce the tools to other English teacher colleagues in their schools. For this reason, the number of participants from one school is limited to two teachers.  Those participants who complete the workshop will be given a certificate.
